Social Media and Technology Policy
This document outlines Empowered Me Counseling Centers’ social media and technology policy (EMC2). Please read it to understand how you can expect to interact with EMC2 through the Internet.
Friending on Social Netoworking Sites
We do not accept Friend Requests from current or previous clients on social networking sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) for our personal accounts. Any friend requests will be maintained through public accounts or fan accounts i.e. Empowered Me Counseling Centers (EMC2). Adding clients as personal friends can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. We also strive to keep the therapeutic relationship boundaries clear.
Empowered Me Counseling Centers (EMC2), Facebook pages, and Twitter accounts share information through blog posts, articles, and practice updates. All information (articles, blog posts, etc.) is available via www.EMC2.care or www.EMC2.team; therefore, friending or becoming a fan is not necessary to access such information.
Clients may choose to follow EMC2 postings. If you wish to share things from your online life with your therapist, please bring those to session with you where they can be shared and explored together. Empowered Me Counseling Centers (EMC2) will not solicit testimonials from current or former clients.
Interacting
Please DO NOT contact EMC2 or its employees via Chat or messaging on sites such as Facebook, Linkedin, or Twitter. These methods are not secure, and we may not respond promptly. Should you need help immediately, please contact us via phone or private voice mail. Do not use wall postings, @replies, or other means of engaging with us in public online if a client/therapist relationship has been established. Engaging with us in this way could compromise your confidentiality.
Again, please contact us by telephone or messaging through your secure portal if contact is needed between sessions. The second best method is via email @Empoweredmecounseling@gmail.com. Email should be used primarily for administrative items while changing or confirming appointment times can be done via the website at www.EMC2.care or www.EMC2.team. See the information below regarding email interactions.
Empowered Me Counseling Centers (EMC2) and the client should recognize that email is not completely secure or confidential. EMC2 prefers using our websites www.EMC2.care or www.EMC2.team for most administrative purposes, such as changing appointment times, contacting a therapist or office to request an appointment, or confirming appointment times. If you cannot find what you need, please send an email to EmpoweredMeCounseling@gmail.com. If you choose to communicate via email, be aware that emails are retained in the logs of your and my internet service providers. While it is unlikely that someone will be looking at these logs, they are in theory available to be read by the internet service provider’s system administrator(s). Please be aware that any emails received and responses sent become part of your legal record.
Conclusion
Thank you for taking the time to review our Social Media Policy. If you have questions or concerns about any of these policies and procedures or regarding our potential interactions on the Internet, do bring them to our attention so we can discuss them by email or phone 801.317.1950.
